Some fans of West Ham United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Sam Inkersole relayed an article containing David Moyes’ quotes regarding Said Benrahma.
In an article for Football.London, Inkersole relayed the West Ham manager’s quotes about Benrahma, whom the Hammers signed on what is originally a one-year loan deal that will become a £20.79 million permanent move next summer, with the 57-year-old revealing what the winger has to do to earn a place in the West Ham starting XI.
He said: “Retention of the ball would be one of them, I would say. We like him, he has ability, but retention of the ball and making the right decisions more often than not, that’s what we are after.”
However, after Inkersole shared this article on Twitter, fans of West Ham flocked to have their say on the matter, with many disagreeing with the manager’s opinion on the £19.8 million-rated 25-year-old.
Do you think Benrahma should start against Southampton?
So, what exactly did these West Ham United fans have to say in reaction to David Moyes’ comments?
“Moyes seems very good at emptying players of confidence. There is no way his ball retention can be any worse than Fornals and Bowen. We want to see tricks, him taking on men and committing full-backs surely?!”
“Very frustrating knowing Benrahma most likely will not be in the first 11 tomorrow, however, Moyes did a great job settling in Bowen, and I believe he can do the same with Said.”
“So Moyes says this is what he must do and then doesn’t give him the chance to do it. Sounds about right #GSBOUT”
“This makes zero sense. All Fornals does is give the ball away”
“Nope… don’t get Moyes on this one at all…”
“He wants pace up top? Play Benhrama up top with Bowen and Lanzini behind them.”
