Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Danny Mills has urged West Ham United to complete a new deal for manager David Moyes – coming after an inside update from Sky Sports that the Scotsman is set to be offered one.
Moyes, who has guided the Hammers to a stellar Premier League start, with West Ham currently sitting a comfortable 7th in the Premier League table, lost out to Man United last night after a controversial call.
Should West Ham tie down Moyes?
No, far too early
Tomas Soucek put his side 1-0 up at half time, following a very impressive showing, but Paul Pogba’s wondergoal in the second half started a late capitulation as West Ham eventually succumbed to a 3-1 defeat.
GSB urged for Moyes deal
The Frenchman’s stellar striker shouldn’t have stood due to the ball appearing out of play at one stage in the build-up, but regardless of this mixed evening at the London Stadium, Moyes will be hoping to get his side back on track.
Taking into account the job he has done this season, Mills has now urged GSB to seal this ‘vitally important’ move of offering him a new deal – going on to claim that other mid-table clubs will have him if West Ham don’t get the deal done.
“To get him nailed down will help you plan for the future in terms of players coming is vitally important. That’s a must, that’s what they need to do,” he said to Football Insider.
“He went to Manchester United and it didn’t work out but when you’re looking at a team pushing for the top six or the top eight that’s David Moyes’ forte. He’s been there, seen it and proven it.
“There are not going to be any of the top four clamouring for his signature.
“But there’ll be a lot of other mid-table clubs that will have him if West Ham don’t get the deal done.
“David Moyes is a loyal character and I don’t think he’s looking to walk away anytime soon.”
Transfer Tavern take
Even though it is still early days, after this solid start to the season, it is arguably vital the Hammers get a deal done and tie Moyes down with a new deal.
If GSB can complete this move, it’s safe to say they would be making the right call given how things have gone in his second spell in charge at West Ham.
