When West Ham United U23s lined up against Stoke City U23s, they did so with the target of getting back to winning ways.
Can West Ham make the top six?
Their 16-game unbeaten run had come to an end when they lost 4-3 to Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy, but they got over that by continuing their unbeaten league campaign, beating Stoke 4-0:

Joe Powell scored the first goal of the game and it also turned out to be the evening’s show-stopper, as he lobbed the goalkeeper from range, as shown in the video on West Ham’s official Twitter account.
The youngster’s moment of quality has got many fans asking about the prospect of getting him in the first-team, as it has been claimed they could do with someone to finish like Powell did.
There were also calls for Nathan Holland to feature in the squad following his brace, while Anthony Scully got a mention after scoring yet again.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the goal, including posts from impressed West Ham fans, can be seen below:
This is when our lacklustre League Cup run becomes even more frustrating as those games are perfect for the U23 players, like Powell and Holland, to get valuable starts and act as valuable experience at this point in their careers. Hugely frustrating.
