The West Ham United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are currently discussing how many goals they are going to put past Tottenham on Saturday.
But to do that they may need another attacking option as they prepare for the 2014/15 campaign after a poor pre-season programme results wise.
And apparently Sunderland have told West Ham United that they must pay £8 million if they want to take Connor Wickham to Upton Park this summer.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the Hammers made a formal £5 million bid for Wickham on Monday but the East London outfit were told it was not enough
Wickham was a key man for the Black Cats towards the end of last season, scoring five crucial goals as they survived a relegation battle.
The Wearsiders are trying to raise £8 million from the sale of the striker – the same amount they paid Championship outfit Ipswich Town back in 2011.
And the Hammers may be prepared to meet the Stadium of Light club in the middle as they look to find a new target-man after learning about Andy Carroll’s latest injury setback.
The former Newcastle United and Liverpool striker is out for four months having picked up an injury during preseason.
