West Ham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are relieved to hear that their club are finally set to tie their wonderkid down on a long-term deal.
According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers have offered Reece Oxford a new deal as they look to ward off interest from fellow Premier League clubs.
The 17-year-old has picked up a lot of attention in the Tavern after his rise to Premier League level, especially when he started the first game of the season at the Emirates, when West Ham won 2-0.
Oxford became the club’s youngest ever Premier League player at the age of 16 years and 237 days, and impressively finished the game with the highest passing accuracy (95%).
Manchester City are interested in signing the youngster, who has made 12 first-appearances for the Irons this season and West Ham are keen to secure his future.
Our resident Hammers fans feel this is an essential but of business, and think the youngster is going to have an incredibly bright future with the club.
