West Ham United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have endured a frustrating transfer window, as deals for Carlos Bacca and Alexandre Lacazette are seemingly set to fall through before the new season begins.
But The Mirror reports that Slaven Bilic is eyeing up Fiorentina striker, Mario Gomez, as a solution to the London club’s strike worries.
Gomez is reportedly unsettled at loan-parent Besiktas due to the ongoing domestic problems in Turkey and is actively seeking a move away from the club before the new season.
The 31-year-old netted 28 times in 41 appearances at Besiktas last season and a Premier League move is set to cost the Hammers in the region of £7million.
The club has have offered main target Bacca a deal worth £95,000-a-week who is stalling over finalisation; the Olympic Stadium hierarchy would need a replacement in soon for outgoing striker Diafra Sakho who is on the brink of completing a £16 million move to West Bromwich Albion.
Our resident Hammers here in the Transfer Tavern wanted to see the club sign Lacazette ideally, and aren’t sold on the idea of signing a player who is reaching the latter stages of his career!
