West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern are remaining adamant that Slaven Bilic is offloaded this summer, although they’re split with their views on one reported target.
FootballItalia, citing Corriere Dello Sport, indicates that West Ham have identified Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi as a potential candidate for the job, having been impressed with the Italian boss’ tenure in charge of the Rome side.
Since taking charge of Lazio last summer, Inzaghi has led the Serie A outfit to fourth position in the league standings and into the final of the Coppa Italia- and he’ll earn an extension should his side win the trophy, or finish in the top-five.
That could affect West Ham’s chances of bringing the former striker to the Premier League, as his deal would be extended until 2019, but the option that the Hammers would provide would certainly be an intriguing prospect.
Whilst Inzaghi has impressed with Lazio, his reach with the Italian side is severely limited as it will take a major improvement to dethrone Juventus, whilst the likes of Roma, Napoli, AC Milan and Inter Milan remain a threat.
Although West Ham face a similar challenge if they’re to compete in the Premier League, the club are certainly on the right track following their move to the London Stadium last summer and our landlord believes they’re set for an exciting future.
