West Ham United plotting to sign £120k-a-week Premier League star

Christian BentekeOur resident West Ham fans have been happy with their season so far and have been intrigued with the latest reports in The Times linking their club with a move for Christian Benteke.

The striker has been largely out of favour under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, with reports suggesting that West Ham could be set to offer the Belgian a way out of his Anfield nightmare.

However, any deal would require Liverpool to continue to contribute towards Benteke’s wages. He currently earns around £120,000-a-week, which the Hammers cannot afford, though they are believed to be willing to pay up to £80,000-a-week.

The 25-year old has managed just nine goals in 36 appearances since his staggering £32.5million move from Aston Villa, whilst his role as a strong but cumbersome target man has seen him fail to adapt well to Klopp’s pressing style.

However, our landlord has reminded the West Ham fans that he managed to score 15 goals in 34 games in his last season at Aston Villa!

A large contingent of Hammers fans by the pool table are really excited about this news, and think Benteke would be a fantastic player to spear the strike-force as they start their new era in the Olympic Stadium.
