West Ham United set to bid for Liverpool misfit after £31m move for Lyon forward is thwarted

bilic9wWest Ham United are set to turn their attentions towards the signing of Liverpool striker Christian Benteke after failing in a bid to sign Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, according to The Sun.

The Hammers have started their summer shopping early this year and a bid of £31 million was knocked back by Lyon for the services of their prized asset earlier this week.

The signing of Liverpool misfit Benteke could be a little easier to pull off however with the Belgian likely to be deemed surplus to requirements by the Reds during the summer months.

The news hasn’t really done much to impress the Hammers faithful here in the Tavern with several smashing their empty pint pots in anger, with very few rating Benteke as any better than their current crop of attacking options.

One Hammers fan is waiting for Wednesday night card bingo and he thinks that the Belgian signing for the club would hamper Andy Carroll, stating that the two are the same type of player.

West Ham fans, would you welcome the signing of the big Belgian striker? Who else should the club pursue this summer?
