West Ham United continue to struggle along in the Premier League and lost out to Wolves yesterday thanks to a late winner for Nuno Santo's men.

The Hammers will be hoping things can pick up under Manuel Pellegrini after a summer in which the club backed the manager with plenty of money, but eyes will no doubt already be turning to January if things carry on as they are.

We at the Transfer Tavern think the Hammers need some goals in the team, and as a club n averse to giving controversial characters a chance, and one player who certainly fits into that category is former Manchester City man Mario Balotelli.

The Italian striker has been excellent in terms of goalscoring during his spell with Nice over in France, but he is thought to be on his way out of the club, and a club like West Ham should be waiting in the wings to land the forward.

Despite his attitude at times, he is a quality operator, and on his day can win a game with a piece of magic.

His time in England previously was up and down, but he was a Premier League winner, and has always played on the biggest stage, which is the sort of experience a club like West Ham could do with.

Balotelli could well prove to be a nightmare buy, but, he could also be a masterstroke of a signing, and is someone the Hammers board should well consider making a move for.

Hammers fans, what do you think? Would you take Balotelli? Let us know in the comments!
