West Ham United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern could see Ravel Morrison leave on a free transfer if he does not impress Sam Allardyce this season
But in truth most West Ham fans would rather it was Allardyce kicked out the club with a lot of the Hammers faithful still holding faith in the youngster – well, on the football field at least after the player was remanded in custody today for assault.
However, according to the Daily Star, Allardyce is ready to give Ravel Morrison one more chance to save his Hammers career.
Allardyce has hinted he will only agree to offer former Manchester United midfielder Morrison a new long-term deal if he proves his attitude problems are finally a thing of the past – which would mean Morrison would be allowed to leave on a free next summer.
Putting the ball firmly in the attacking midfielder’s court, Allardyce said: “If he gets back to knuckling down, and getting used to the discipline side of the game, then his talents are outstanding.”
Morrison scored one of the goals of the season last campaign and it was extra special for many as it came during the away demolishing of rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
But behind the scenes, problems saw the youngster shipped out on loan to Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers – where he helped earn promotion for the Hoops.
Hammers fans have seen glimpses of the midfielder that leave them understanding why he was so often compared to Paul Scholes.
And those same fans will be hoping that Morrison eradicates his off-field demons once and for all this season or the Hammers risk losing him on a free transfer.
