But the Hammers will still need that bit of steel in midfield and according to The Mirror, they could take advantage of Everton’s stuttering pursuit of Gareth Barry.
Barry has reportedly been caught in the middle of a stand-off between Everton and Manchester City.
The Citizens believe they are owed £2 million from Everton after Barry agreed to sign a deal a permanent deal at the Merseyside club following a season-long loan deal last term.
But with neither party are willing to budge, free agent Barry could now be snapped up by the Hammers.
Because if the former Aston Villa midfielder signs for any club other than Everton, Manchester City will not receive a fee.
It is also believed that West Ham are prepared the 33-year old the best financial package of the duo.
