According to the Daily Mail, the former Lyon striker flew into the country today for talks with the representatives of three Premier League clubs.
Both West Ham United and Sunderland are reportedly the teams interested along with Welsh club Swansea City who are discussing emergency replacements for Wilfried Bony should the Ivorian be sold for big money.
Gomis is a free agent this summer after his contract at Lyon ran down and there is also interest from Turkey with Galatasaray looking for a replacement for Didier Drogba.
Gomis is represented by Willie McKay, a man West Ham United know all about having dealt with him on numerous occasions.
But they face a fight from Sunderland who are looking to add to their impotence upfront after Jozy Altidore failed to live up to his transfer fee following his arrival from AZ Alkmaar last summer.
One worry all three sides have though is the reported wages that Gomis and his agent are asking for.
Newcastle United have already dropped out of the running after learning that an £80,000 per week contract was what the Frenchman is wanting.
West Ham United fans. Can you see Gomis arriving at Upton Park this summer or will Sam Allardyce still stick with Andy Carroll as his main man? Let us know your thoughts below.
