Winston Reid refusing a contract, record signing out for four months and supporters apparently fighting during the club’s tour of Germany – it hasn’t been a great week for the West Ham United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.
And according to the Daily Star it is not going to get any easier for the Hammers faithful with the news that former Inter Milan and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o priced himself out of a move to Upton Park.
To many fans that is good news because the loyal East Londoners are fed up of seeing overpriced has-beens come in and mop up the entire club’s fund whilst offering very little on the pitch.
Fans had been told that the Green Street outfit would change their transfer policies this summer and not sign anybody over the age of 27.
However upon the collapse of the Eto’o deal Allardyce is reportedly eyeing up a move for 33-year old Stoke City striker Peter Crouch.
Crouch has no intentions of leaving the Britannia Stadium and wants to fight for his place at the Potters despite the arrivals of front men Mame Biram Diouf and Bojan this summer.
But with Potters boss Mark Hughes ready to listen to offers in the region of £1 million for the former England international, a move to West Ham for regular football could be on the cards.
West Ham fans. Is there room in your club for 6 ft 7 in Peter Crouch or would the transfer mean that Sam Allardyce was reverting to his old style of football already? Let us know your thoughts below.
