West Ham fans are looking up from their pints today at the Football Transfer Tavern after the latest news from the Metro who claim that the club could well be set to land Scott Parker.
The Hammers legend could be set to seal a sensational return to the club after being made available for transfer by Spurs manager Andre Villas Boas as part of the clearout at the club and knows that he is surplus to requirements. Parker still has a lot to give and has no intention of slowing the pace yet. Having played at the very highest level with both Chelsea and the England national side, Parker has bundles of talent and is a hard worker to match – just the kind of midfield man Sam Allardyce wants at his club.
The sticking point with the transfer is the wages Parker is currently demanding. At North London club Spurs, Parker is getting around £70,000 per week but West Ham simply will not pay such a huge amount of money to a 32 year old and have asked Parker’s representatives to consider a reduction in wages in order to push the move through.
Having already captured £15.5 million Andy Carroll this summer, things are looking good for the Hammers and Allardyce wants to build on the work already done at the club and move them up the table.
