If last summer’s exploits in the transfer window were anything to go by, West Ham United fans could be in for a real treat over the next few months.
There is no doubt that the Hammers need to make improvements once again as inconsistent performances have cost them dearly.
Manuel Pellegrini’s coup of Felipe Anderson proved to be a real hit and it appears the Chilean could be prepared to try and make another statement with another hugely ambitious move just 12 months on.
What’s the News?
According to a report by The Mirror, West Ham are interested in signing Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos this summer.
Pellegrini is thought to be a big fan of the player, whilst Mario Husillos (the director of football) believes the midfielder could fit in well into the side.
The Spain international is said to be surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu and could be available for £18million, which has put the Hammers on alert.
Ceballos is a hugely talented midfielder and would represent something of an enormously ambitious capture if West Ham were able to land him in the summer. Although he has failed to make an impact with Los Blancos since moving from Real Betis, he has plenty of potential and could look to be an excellent long-term coup for the Hammers.
Still only 22-years-old, the Spain international has already tasted success with Real Madrid and could help to bring a winning mentality to the London Stadium, something that is rather in short supply at the moment.
A versatile midfielder, Ceballos can be rather reliable in the deeper areas of the field with his defensive capabilities as he is a strong tackler, whilst he can also be utilised further forward.
He has an exceptional passing ability when playing the ball to his team-mates, whilst his finishing has started to improve as he plays more regularly. He is comfortable on the ball as the Spaniard likes to dribble with it at his feet, whilst he can also be quite safe in possession.
With the right guidance under Pellegrini, and if Husillos is right, there is no reason as to why he can not reach his full potential in the Premier League at West Ham.
West Ham fans, would Ceballos be a huge coup for the club? Do you see him as an ideal fit in the first-team? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
