West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left biting their nails today, after hearing that their club is concerned on the future of the club’s biggest star.
29-year-old Payet has excelled in his maiden Premier League campaign and has continued with his fine performances on the international stage, having been the star of Euro 2016 so far and netting in both of France’s victories in the group stages.
Payet netted a dramatic winner in the Euro 2016 opener against Romania and helped France become the first side to reach the knock-out stages with his goal in the 2-0 win over Albania, giving Les Bleus an advantage heading into their final group match against Switzerland.
West Ham, understandably, do not want to sell Payet but are concerned due to his growing reputation, with sources close to Real Madrid stating the Frenchman would be a ‘typical’ Florentino Perez signing.
Our landlord reckons that if West Ham were to sell they’d prefer to see the midfielder move to Spain, though he doesn’t believe Payet will be leaving this summer.
West Ham fans, how crucial is it that you keep hold of Payet’s services? Let us know in the comments below!
