“Always a bit slower with him, becoming a joke” – Fans react to latest West Ham setback

West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are trying to drink away their sorrows, as they fret over Andy Carroll’s latest injury setback.

The powerful striker hasn’t featured for the Hammers since scoring against Southampton, amid a run of four goals in as many Premier League appearances.

He was expected to be back in action for West Ham’s Premier League fixture against Watford on Sunday, with the Irons hoping to reap revenge for a 4-2 humiliation earlier in the season after going 2-0 up at the Olympic Stadium.

However, The Daily Mail reported last night that the England international would miss the Vicarage Road clash with a groin problem, having been unable to train with the rest of the squad during West Ham’s recent trip to Dubai.

And Irons boss Slaven Bilic has now confirmed the 28-year-old is a major doubt for this weekend.

West Ham fans have been here before; Carroll’s spell in East London has been divided between flurries of fine form and extended absences due to injury. And following his latest setback, Irons supporters have felt compelled to vent their frustrations on Twitter…
