Big Sam tracking Spanish ace

alonso.jpgHere at the Football Transfer Tavern, the January transfer window may be closed but that does not mean that the rumours have stopped and we have a cracker from the Daily Mirror concerning Sam Allardyce and his West Ham United side.

The East London club are apparently lining up a move for soon to be free agent Alonso number two – not Xabi whose future is also in doubt whilst he does not pen a new deal with Real Madrid but Bolton Wanderers’ Marcos instead. Marcos Alonso is soon to be out of contract at the Reebok Stadium and Big Sam has sent his scouts out to watch the Spanish full back.

The former Real Madrid man is keen on a move away from Bolton and has already gained a contract offer from Serie A giants Fiorentina, meaning it is far from a certainty that Allardyce will lure the player to Upton Park. Not only this but Trotters boss Dougie Freedman feels that all is not lost with the player at Bolton and feels that the potential is there to persuade the player to pen a new deal with the club he has been at since 2010- especially if the side were to gain promotion back to the top flight in the Premier League.

It would take some doing this year in the Championship with Bolton currently lying 10 points off of the play-off spots however.

Will West Ham snare Alonso in the summer? Rate this rumour below.
