West Ham United fans here in the Tavern are delighted with life under David Moyes, as relegation worries seem to be a thing of the past.
The Hammers have had a season full of ups and downs, as early season troubles had fans fearing for their Premier League life, but the appointment of David Moyes has seen the London Stadium uncover a Scottish hero. Indeed, after witnessing the horrors of Slaven Bilic’s closing days as manager, their new ruler has brought quality to a stadium worthy of top-class football. And, it looks like the hard work could potentially pay off for the former Manchester United manager, as according to reports in the Evening Standard, West Ham are to offer David Moyes a new contract if he manages to avoid relegation.
It is understood that should Moyes manage to keep the Hammers up this season, then the Scot will be offered a new and improved contract, probably for two-years, as the club look for a successful future. Although there’s been improvements in the performances of the side, with tough times still a regular occurrence for the Hammers, he may have certain financial demands and factors that they may have to filter into a new deal.
Subsequently, transfer window business may be lingering in the back of the Scot’s mind after failing to secure the signing of a midfield position he craved, and with their pursuit of Islam Slimani coming to nothing, there could be doubt in future transfer window activities. However, having come to the London Stadium to prove a point after unsuccessful spells at Manchester United and Sunderland, Moyes’ efforts so far could see him look elsewhere for future progression in his managerial career.
David Moyes has been sensational since he took charge of the Hammers, as relegation worries continue to look unlikely for the Hammers. Although, offering him a new contract may not be something of the best interest to the Scot, as his ability shown so far may just have warranted a position at a more successful club. However, if they can manage to tie him down long-term, our local residents believe that they could be adding to their trophy cabinet very soon.
