Bilic left desperate as key West Ham deal falls through

West Ham supporters at the Football Transfer Tavern were already raising their glasses to the signing of Davide Santon on loan from Inter Milan when they heard that he was having a medical.

However according to reports from Sky Sports News, the move to the London Stadium is now off due to the Italian full back failing a medical.

The Hammers have been searching for a new left-back since Aaron Cresswell picked up a knee injury, which will keep him out for about four months.

Santon was always top of West Ham’s wish list but his medical showed that there is a problem in his knee, which subsequently finished any chance of the deal happening.

Slaven Bilic has already looked at Norwich City duo Liam Brady and Martin Olsson and Andrew Robertson from Hull City but has so far been unable to strike up a deal with either of the two clubs.

The Hammers are expected to go back in for Martin Olsson with an improved deal, as they are not willing to spend a lot of money for a player they see as Cresswell’s replacement for while he is injured.

Punters here at the bar in the Tavern can still expect to see a new left back coming in at West Ham soon.

Hammers fans, we want to hear from you! Were you disappointed to lose out on Santon? Who would you like to see Bilic sign? Let us know in the comments below…
