Bilic reportedly pushing for £16m deal as West Ham eye Liverpool man

It’s fair to say that the West Ham United fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have endured a rather difficult season, their first in the London Stadium.

With doubts about the future of manager Slaven Bilic, our east London locals are seemingly in constant debate about the direction of the club and are wondering what the next step is.

So, reports from the Irish Sun have confused the Irons in the bar somewhat. They claim those in claret and blue have contacted Liverpool over a potential deal for outcast winger Lazar Markovic.

Currently on loan at Hull City, the Serbian has struggled to make much of an impact at Anfield since moving to the club from Benfica in the summer of 2014. However, his stint on loan with the Tigers – who beat West Ham on the weekend – has reportedly impressed Bilic.

He’s said to have contacted decision makers on Merseyside about a move and is thought to have been quoted around £16m. Still, despite the rather large sum of money, Bilic is said to be pushing the money men to follow through on their reported interest.

A good player in flashes, the idea of seeing Markovic in east London has proved divisive for the fans in the Tavern.
