Though the West Bromwich Albion fans in the Transfer Tavern had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new forward, the Baggies in this evening have their hopes rocked.
That’s because, according to BBC Sport, their attempts to bring in Diafra Sakho have been dealt a blow as they deal has been called off.
The transfer was originally thought to be set in stone after the Senegalese international striker agreed terms and had a medical at the Hawthorns.
But the £15m move is now off following the medical and the Midlands will have to look elsewhere if they want to add to their striking ranks for the upcoming season.
This now leaves any potential transfer for unhappy striker Saido Berahino in the dark, who has been identified as a target for both Crystal Palace and Stoke City.
Sakho was due to become Albion’s second signing of the summer after Matt Phillips joined the club in a £5million deal from QPR last month.
