David Gold sends warming message to West Ham fan favourites on Twitter

West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are toasting their ales in honour of Pedro Obiang and Michail Antonio.

The duo have established themselves as firm fan favourites at the London Stadium this season; defensive midfielder Obiang is very much the Irons’ new unsung hero, whilst Antonio is the club’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with nine goals.

But perhaps more importantly, both are celebrating their birthdays this week. Antonio turned 27 today and it was Obiang’s 25th birthday yesterday. That’s certainly making a few punters in the Transfer Tavern feel quite old.

West Ham co-chairman David Gold is pretty big on Twitter – sometimes to the frustration of the Irons faithful – and used the social media site to wish both players Happy Birthday earlier today.

Coincidentally, both players are also currently sidelined with injury – and will miss the Hammers’ trip to Hull City in the Premier League this weekend according to Physioroom.
