Details of West Ham’s offer emerge with positive update on transfer

As if this summer couldn’t get any better for the West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern, recent reports touting them with a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho have been met with applause.

Indeed, the Portugal international would provide some serious bite to the Irons’ engine room and the notion of seeing such a coup in claret and blue arrive is a seriously exciting one for our punters propping up the bar.

Duncan Castles has revealed some of the details of the club’s apparent bid on Twitter. He claims there is an initial €30m offer (roughly £27.1m) plus another €10m in potential add-ons, with those in the Portuguese capital understood to be after around €40m (£36.2m).

Carvalho himself is reported to want the move over to the London Stadium, having been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in the past. Arsenal, Manchester United and even West Bromwich Albion have all been touted as potential landing spots for the Euro 2016 winner, so West Ham nabbing him would be a wonderful signing.

As you can imagine, this news has gone down very well amongst our punters.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Carvalho would be a coup for West Ham. Along with Javier Hernandez and Manuel Lanzini, the Irons would have perhaps the strongest spine outside of the top six and could now be realistic challengers to Everton in attempting to keep up with the Premier League’s powerhouses.
