West Ham have made improvements to their defence during this transfer window by bringing in central defender Issa Diop and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

The Hammers, though, could do with further additions for that area of the squad if they are to have a successful season.

At left-back, in particular, the team looks a bit light. Arthur Masuaku is extremely good at going forward, but his defending is very suspect hence David Moyes' decision to play the 24-year-old as a left wing-back and left winger during his short stint as manager at the London Stadium.

Considering Masuaku's incapabilities, Aaron Cresswell is Manuel Pellegrini's only real option at left-back, which is why it's imperative for West Ham's signing of defensive reinforcements to not stop at Diop and Fabianski.

Furthermore, the Hammers should go all out for AC Milan left-back Ricardo Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who is valued at £15m by Transfermarkt, only joined AC Milan last summer. However, the Serie A giant's breach of Financial Fair Play rules could see them having to sell players during the current transfer window.

If so, West Ham must take advantage and make a serious offer for Rodriguez.

The Switzerland international was widely considered as one of the best left-backs in Germany while playing for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and has the sort of overall quality West Ham lack in that position.
