West Ham United and their need for a reliable striker is surely a topic that is becoming rather boring for those at the London Stadium.
The Hammers have been on the lookout for a player who can provide them a regular source of goals, however, David Gold and David Sullivan have so far failed to find the man that can solve that issue.
A number of men have been linked in the past, however, one striker that was rumoured with a move to the Premier League side could have been perfect for them. However, things have not quite turned out as well as many would have believed they would.
Lukasz Teodorczyk was linked with a move to West Ham in 2017 as the Hammers continued to look for someone to solve their attacking woes.
The Poland international was excelling for Anderlecht after a switch from Dynamo Kiev, as he managed to hit 30 goals in his 53 appearances across all competitions for the Belgian outfit in his debut year.
However, things quickly went downhill for the forward, as he struggled to replicate those stats in the following campaign.
Teodorczyk managed to net just 15 times in his 40 appearances across all competitions with the majority of his goals coming in the final few games of the campaign.
That form still earned him a move to Torino last summer, however, it has been nothing short of a nightmare spell in Italy.
The 27-year-old has just one goal in his 14 Serie A outings, although his time on the pitch has been severely limited through injury. Teodorczyk suffered an inguinal hernia that ruled him out for around three months and then suffered a recurrence of the problem just a few matches later, although that spell was not as significant as his first one.
Although picking up a serious injury can be unavoidable at times, it is quite clear the Poland international does not have the quality to find the back of the net on a regular basis at a higher level, with all due respect to the Jupiler League Pro.
With Teodorczyk’s troubles in front of goal, it would have to be argued that the Hammers would still be in the position that they find themselves currently in at the London Stadium, whereby they have what looks to be an attractive option within their squad, but they fail to perform to expectations that the London Stadium outfit’s fanbase holds for them.
West Ham fans, do you think you dodged a bullet in regards to Teodorczyk? Or do you think he could have been ideal in Pellegrini’s side? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
