Ensuring £16.2m-rated creative jewel is at West Ham next season must be the club’s priority

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern were happy to see their side end a dreadful season on a high with a home victory over Sam Allardyce’s Everton.

The Hammers have had too many problems on and off the pitch meaning this summer could be make or break with regards to whether West Ham want to be ambitious or if they want to settle as relegation-battlers.

Current player Manuel Lanzini starred in their 3-1 last-day win over Everton, proving that at all costs, the Argentinian playmaker has to be given a new contract.

Lanzini, who is valued at £16.2 million by Transfer Markt, has stepped up to replace Dimitri Payet brilliantly over the last 18 months to become a strong fans favourite around the London Stadium. The 25-year-old is an exciting player who can really win a game for West Ham on his own with his wonderful creative play.

His dribbling and close control is unbelievable and Hammers fans everywhere are captivated when watching him go at defenders. The brilliant quality he has on the ball has been exemplified by the 5 goals and 7 assists that he has picked up this season.

His current contract expires in 2020, and so the prospect of losing him on a free – which is something that has become more common in the Premier League as of late – should be terrifying the West Ham brass.

A lot needs addressing at West Ham this summer but first things first, the club need to secure the long-term future of their top performers. Lanzini, undoubtedly, should be at thee top of that list.
