Europa League-winning boss reportedly keen on West Ham United

The West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern are seemingly always divided about Slaven Bilic’s future.

Indeed, the Hammers chief is undoubtedly a popular man in east London – well pretty much across football – though hasn’t convinced in the dugout for the Irons in a while now. With that in mind, reports emanating out of Spain have proven rather interesting.

According to Sport, Espanyol manager Quique Sanchez Flores would be interested in a return to England, an interesting notion for our punters clad in claret and blue. The former Watford boss impressed during his year at Vicarage Road, leading them to a 13th-placed finish, as well as the FA Cup semi-final.

The Spaniard is believed to be keen on moving back to the Premier League, though would not reportedly want to leave La Periquitos before the end of the campaign. He’s understood to have an exit clause after this season, meaning the Hammers would have to wait to make their move.

Having impressed in the Premier League, the West Ham fans in our bar wouldn’t mind seeing Flores handed the job.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Flores has had some big jobs – winning the Europa League with Atletico Madrid – around Europe and did prove popular during his year with the Hornets. While he’s no Pep Guardiola, he’d be a safe pair of hands, and someone who could build the Irons into what they want to be.
