England fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments made by Stuart Pearce whilst talking on Alan Brazil’s breakfast show on TalkSPORT this morning. Pearce has tipped West Ham’s on-loan calamity ‘keeper Joe Hart to be a part of Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad going to Russia in the summer.
The English football fans in the bar have been debating who should start for their country between the sticks for some time now. Five years ago, fans would’ve expected Joe Hart to go and claim over 100 caps for his country as he looked certain to be England’s number one well into his 30’s. However, upon Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Manchester City, it became clear that there was no place in the squad for Hart as Claudio Bravo and Ederson have been brought into the club.
With a point to prove to his manager, Hart has been out on loan to both Torino and now West Ham and hasn’t done anything to prove Guardiola wrong as blunder after blunder has caused his stock to plummet. Fans will now be looking at Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland to battle it out for the starting role under Southgate, whilst Nick Pope is expected to be the Three Lions third choice stopper.
