West Ham United have confirmed that young striker Anthony Scully has been allowed to join League One outfit Lincoln City on a permanent transfer (whufc.com).
The former Republic of Ireland under-19 international has put pen-to-paper on an 18-month contract at Sincil Bank (BBC Sport) and will join up with Michael Appleton’s side straight away. Scully never managed to make a first-team appearance during his time with the Hammers, but he did play twice for their under-23’s in the EFL Trophy and even bagged a brace against League Two outfit Newport County in a 5-4 win (Transfermarkt).
Added to that, he has also been prolific for West Ham at youth level this season. Indeed he scored 12 goals in just 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 whilst also providing five assists on top of that (Transfermarkt).
It is perhaps because of his fantastic goal scoring record in the youth team that many fans are upset that the club have allowed him to join the Imps. Indeed, many have taken to Twitter to slam the decision to let one of their most promising young talents leave on a permanent basis.
Will West Ham sack Moyes before the end of the season?
Here is what some had to say…
Sad and frustrated to see Anthony Scully leave West Ham for Lincoln City without getting a decent chance with the first team to prove both his talent and potential at the top level; especially given how prolific and influential he has been for West Ham’s U23 side this season.

How disgusting this boy was great and was never given a chance. If we go down we would have needed our youngsters cause all our Prima Donna’s will want off.
