West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere is expected to miss the rest of the season after having a hernia operation, that is according to a report from the Sun.
The 28-year-old has only started two times in the Premier League this season and has been missing with a groin injury since October (Transfermarkt). But whilst he may have now recovered from his groin problem, the England international has had yet another set back with the hernia and it doesn’t look like he will feature again in this campaign.
Wilshere’s entire career has been blighted by injuries (Transfermarkt) and since signing for West Ham in the summer of 2018 he has only managed to rack up 16 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
He is certainly a talented player when fit as his time with Arsenal would show but his body is simply failing him and considering he is on £100,000-per-week (Spotrac) he is certainly not proving value for money given how little he has featured.
Should West Ham cut ties with Jack Wilshere?
It seems that Wilshere’s lack of game time at the London Stadium has led to many supporters urging the club to get rid of the former Arsenal man in the summer, with some questioning why they ever signed him in the first place given his injury record. Here is what some had to say on Twitter about the midfielder…
Wilshere out for the season. Such a shame. Time to get rid

What a disastrous signing cost the club a fortune for sweet nothing

Sums up our club giving him a 3 year deal. Bet he thought he’d had a right touch.

Of course, was obvious this was going to happen. Should never have bought him. This is why were in a relegation struggle despite claims of spending money.
