Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for their new look side to get going this season with them certainly boasting some exciting players right now.
The men from the London Stadium have enjoyed a productive summer with the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Joe Hart, Javier Hernandez and Pablo Zabaleta all arriving at the club.
Certainly, then, David Gold and David Sullivan have done a decent job so far in the market and it also now has become apparent they’ve done a good deal involving Ashley Fletcher.
Signed on a free last season, the young attacker never really got a chance to show what he can do at the club and has now joined Middlesbrough for a handsome profit of £6.5 million.
Indeed, Gold confirmed the move on Twitter:
I can confirm that striker Ashley Fletcher has completed a move to Championship side Middlesbrough for a fee of £6.5m. Good luck Ashley. dg pic.twitter.com/rzpSPGAcwM

Boro will be hoping that the former Manchester United youngster can do the business for their club as they look to get back into the Premier League whilst our landlord thinks it’s a smart deal for all involved.
Fletcher has certainly got talent but he just wasn’t given enough of a chance at the Hammers to show that.
Of course, that makes sense as it would have been a risk with the club fighting relegation for much of last season and now with Hernandez arriving a move away had to be on the cards.
He could prove himself at Boro, then, whilst West Ham have certainly done well in the fee they’ve received.
