West Ham are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table after a dreadful start under Manuel Pellegrini.
Eager to avoid another relegation dogfight, the Hammers significantly strengthened their squad in the summer, splashing over £100m on new players. The West Ham board also opted to replace David Moyes with Pellegrini, who had guided Manchester City to a Premier League title earlier in his career. However, the Chilean is yet to claim a single point since taking charge.
Despite their awful start, West Ham have given the former Real Madrid boss their full support to turn things around. The Hammers travel to Everton following the international break looking to kickstart their season.
Pellegrini may already have on eye on the January transfer window as he targets recruits to improve his side’s fortunes. One man he should be tracking is Amiens striker – Moussa Konate. Valued at £8.1m by Transfermarkt, the Senegal international has been in fine form in Ligue 1 since joining the club from Sion last summer for £3m.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a stunning debut season in France, netting 13 goals and registering three assists in 33 appearances in Ligue 1. His excellent form has continued into the new campaign with Konate finding the back of the net three times in just four appearances so far. He would add much-needed firepower to the West Ham front line.
While Javier Hernandez has struggled in front of goal, Konate has been scoring for fun and would be a significant upgrade on the Mexican. Still just 25, the Senegalese forward is still developing and will only get better. If his impressive goalscoring exploits continue, competition for his signature will be fierce, so West Ham need to make their move as soon as possible.
