The West Ham fans within the Transfer Tavern are already looking ahead to the summer window, in order to hear about which hundreds of players they will again be linked with other the course of two months.
The Hammers are still far from out of the danger zone but with the current bottom three continuing to lose games, the Hammers will be hoping that another win will be all they need to stay in the Premier League. It’s been a torrid campaign for West Ham and the fans are praying for a big re-evaluation this summer in order to push themselves back up the league table.
The owners will be under huge amounts of pressure to bring in some new players and so our punters have been discussing who West Ham should look to buy. Arsenal’s Callum Chambers is a good suggestion, given the defender is still only 23-years-old and he has years ahead to improve his game. The Hammers are starting to realise that their usual solid figure of Winston Reid spends too long on the sideline and a centre-back may be a desirable purchase this summer.
Reid’s been an important figure in East London for years, though the punters propping up our bar are getting fed up of his injuries and are starting to believe that it’s pretty key the team moves on.
Chambers (valued at £12.6m by Transfermarkt) has featured in 21 games for Arsenal this season, with nine of those games resulting in a clean sheet kept. The versatile Englishman could also be deployed as a right-back, or even as a defensive midfielder, which happen to be roles that West Ham will also look to strengthen.
West Ham now have the big stadium to accommodate the top team the owners always promised and although Chambers may not be a top talent in the league, it could be argued he is a significant improvement on the current players.
