West Ham supporters have been very glum in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team comprehensively beaten 4-1 by Liverpool in the Premier League last time out, thus slipping to just three points clear of the relegation zone.
David Moyes’ men went into their meeting with the Merseyside giants off the back of a crucial 2-0 victory over Watford in their previous league outing, a result which moved them up to 12th place in the division and thus put greater distance between themselves and danger. Yet the Hammers fell to just three points clear of the bottom three last weekend as goals from Emre Can, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane sealed an easy win for Jurgen Klopp’s side, thus keeping the East London outfit firmly in relegation contention with ten games of the season left.
Consequently, there have been many frustrated and disappointed West Ham fans in the Tavern in recent times, yet they are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from The Daily Express, which suggests that their side are readying a £10 million summer bid for Bournemouth’s Harry Arter.
The 28-year-old made the move to the South Coast outfit back in 2010 and has since proven his worth to the club with 254 appearances for the Cherries, in which time he has scored 29 goals and laid on 20 assists.
And the Republic of Ireland international reportedly attracted the interest of the Hammers during the January window only for no deal to materialise, with two offers reportedly turned down by Eddie Howe’s men.
Yet reports suggest that the East London outfit will again make a move for the midfielder in the summer, with a £10 million bid reportedly readied as manager Moyes seeks much-needed midfield reinforcements at the London Stadium.
But whether that is enough to tempt Bournemouth into parting with the 28-year-old remains to be seen.
Landlord’s verdict: Harry Arter was subject of two bids from West Ham during the January transfer window, only for Bournemouth to reject both and thus retain the services of the 28-year-old beyond the deadline.
Yet the Hammers aren’t willing to give up that easily as reports suggests that they are readying a £10 million offer for the Republic of Ireland international this summer, as manager David Moyes eyes much-needed midfield reinforcements at the London Stadium.
Obviously, it remains to be seen whether the Scot remains at West Ham beyond the end of the season, but if he is indeed given a new deal, it’s likely that their interest in Arter will only intensify as the summer progresses.
