West Ham United will be looking to strengthen this summer after a disappointing campaign that has seen them battle for survival for the majority of it and the locals in the Transfer Tavern will be interested in the names that are being linked with the club.
One of the problems the Hammers have faced this season was in defence, whereby they concede too many goals and also struggled with injuries and suspensions. It is no secret that the back line has become very experienced, however, many of the punters feel it needs an element of youth being added to give it a good mix.
Declan Rice has seen his time in the squad evolve as each fixture passes, despite David Moyes being critical of his latest performance, however, the Daily Star are claiming that the Irons will look to add in that area.
Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson and Lewis Dunk of Brighton and Hove Albion have been reported to be top of Moyes’ shortlist, having already been wanted during the January window. The Swans centre-back has attracted interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the past and is valued by the Welsh outfit at £40million, whilst the Seagulls are not believed to be ready to sell.
The West Ham fans in the Tavern will be delighted to see that the club are looking at improving the defence ahead of the next season, although, the locals will fear that the Hammers will need to focus on Premier League survival before they look at their recruitment plans for the summer.
