West Ham fans will be disappointed to see their side leave with no points following a decent performance against Brighton.

The Hammers travelled to the Amex Stadium after racking up four games without defeat under Manuel Pellegrini. West Ham performed reasonably well against the Seagulls but fell behind courtesy of a goal from Glenn Murray. For all their efforts, they were unable to find an equaliser.

Despite the defeat, there was plenty of positives to take from their performance. Pellegrini will be hoping the international break can give his players a much-needed rest ahead of a visit from Tottenham before the end of the month. A few more additions in January and West Ham may be able to turn their season around.

One man Pellegrini should target is Wigan Athletic playmaker – Nick Powell. Valued at £2.7m by Transfermarkt, the former Manchester United man has finally found his feet and has finally realised his potential with the Latics. Powell was key to their successful promotion bid back to the Championship.

The Englishman’s hot form has continued in the higher division, Powell has scored four goals and registered four assists in the Championship already. His creative abilities could greatly benefit West Ham’s forwards in the absence of Manuel Lanzini. Powell’s arrival could finally help Javier Hernandez rediscover his goalscoring touch.

With less than one year on his contract, West Ham could be able to secure a bargain in January that could help improve their fortunes in the New Year.

West Ham fans, thoughts?
