No Yaya but these 2 free agents should be tempting to Pellegrini at West Ham

Manuel Pellegrini has ruled out a move to bring Yaya Toure to the London Stadium on a free transfer.

A reunion between Yaya Toure and Manuel Pellegrini is off the cards, as revealed by the Chilean coach prior to the weekend loss at home to Bournemouth.

The talented ex-Manchester City player will not be making a move to the London Stadium. This may well be for the best for the Irons, as there are questions over the fitness of Toure.

However, utilising the free transfer market is still an option for Pellegrini. West Ham fell to a 4-0 defeat in their opening fixture away to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, and he may already be considering his options in the transfer market.

With that in mind, here are two free transfers who would improve the London Stadium outfit…

Hatem Ben Arfa

The 31-year-old Frenchman is available on a free after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended. The 31-year-old has shown what a good player he is in the Premier League before, impressing in the North-East with Newcastle United before moving back to France.

The technically skilful winger could add a new dimension to the West Ham team, and he would represent a smart addition on a free. Out wide, he causes problems for his defenders with his trickery and pin-point crosses. With Marko Arnautovic leading the line and being truly dangerous in the air, he would love a player the quality of Ben Arfa putting balls into the box for him.

Claudio Marchisio

The former Juventus player is available on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old had been with Juventus since 2005, but his association with them has finally come to an end. The Turin-born player is a hard-working box-to-box midfielder who would add vast experience as well as quality to the West Ham midfield.

He is hard-working and versatile, and would lead by example. He has 55 senior caps for Italy. His game is not over-reliant on pace, so this could be a smart addition by Pellegrini.
