As quoted by The Daily Star, West Ham captain Mark Noble has told his club to keep Dimitri Payet at all costs ahead of the January window – with our resident Hammers in the Transfer Tavern certainly agreeing.
The French midfielder has not been at his best so far this season but has still shown on occasion what he can do when he is at his highest level.
He scored a superb solo goal against Middlesbrough earlier this season as the high point and, for Noble, keeping the former Marseille man is something the Hammers simply must do.
The club are really struggling this year and still need to do a great deal to get away from the drop zone but a point at Liverpool will have undoubtedly helped and, ahead of January, the captain hopes their key star goes nowhere.
As, whilst he’s not been at his best, he’s still done some good things according to the skipper, too, who said:
“Even against Middlesbrough this year with the solo goal he scored and the free-kick the other night [v Liverpool], he’s a massive player for us and we must do everything to keep him at the football club.”
Our landlord thinks keeping Payet is crucial if the Hammers are going to survive this season as he is arguably the only player they have that can truly make something out of nothing.
