West Ham United should try and lure Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud away from Stamford Bridge and make him part of Manuel Pellegrini's plans to improve the Hammers up front.

With the future of first-choice striker Marko Arnautovic at the club being questioned after he revealed that he still wants to play for a bigger club and test himself with the top players, Pellegrini could soon face a task of finding a new outright striker that could lead the line of attack.

Even if the Austrian international commit his future at the East London for a bit longer, the manager could do with someone like Giroud who can add a different aspect of a centre-forward in the current West Ham team. Although Arnautovic is a strong and physical player, a partnership between him and Giroud, who also add a lot of power, could improve West Ham's goal-scoring abilities.

With the Frenchman being more than capable of scoring goals with his head and challenging for the ball in the air, Pellegrini could let the pair play off each other, which could cause problems for opposition defenders, given the pace and power of Arnautovic and the aerial threat of Giroud.

The former Arsenal man's move to Stamford Bridge hasn't been going as originally planned and has Giroud mostly been playing in the shadow of Alvaro Morata. But Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri's continued faith in the Spaniard, despite his poor form this season, has left Giroud somewhat frustrated as to why he hasn't been drafted into the first team more regularly yet.

The 32-year-old scored his first goal of the season against BATE Borisov in the Europa League last week, while he has four assists to his name already. But Giroud watched on from the bench on Sunday when the Blues were held to a 0-0 at home by Everton, where Sarri could maybe have increased his side's chances of a late goal should he have given the centre-forward a few minutes on the pitch.
