Complacency, leading to poor performances, is born from that fact that West Ham, in their current state, are missing half their starting lineup due to injury and cannot afford to ace players at this stage of the season.
Indeed, it’s an unfortunate situation the club find themselves in whereby players, despite only winning one of their five recent games, think themselves invincible.
“Flat” is one word to describe West Ham’s general performances of late, and things are going to need to improve if they want to find themselves a safe distance from the relegation zone come the end of the season.
Here is one player that will need to play out of his skin if he wants to be a West Ham player in 2019…
Once again, the career of Jack Wilshere has been put on hold because of an injury.
It’s fair to say that, despite having all the talent and potential in the world, Jack Wilshere’s time in football will be remembered for one thing and one thing only. His extended stints on the sideline.
It’s a real shame for West Ham fans that they will very rarely get to see Wilshere strut his stuff as he’s genuinely a pleasure to watch; easily finding pockets of space, picking out passes, worming his way out of tight areas with his quick feet, and orchestrating play.
West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini will be looking towards reliable players to save them from their current situation. If Jack Wilshere is unable to stamp his authority on the team without picking up an injury in the process, his time at the London Stadium could well be cut prematurely…
