West Ham United will be looking forward to life under Manuel Pellegrini as their new boss, and as such will be hoping the club are busy in the summer transfer window as they prepare for next season.
The Chilean manager was appointed on Tuesday as the successor to David Moyes, and it is expected that he will spend, as well as sell, to make improvements to his team as he tries to guide them to a European football berth next time round.
The former Premier League winner will want to reshape the side and has already been linked with a number of targets, and reports are suggesting he could be prepared to reunite with one of his former players.
And that’s because Sky Sports are reporting that Pellegrini could be ready to make an offer for West Bromwich Albion hitman Salomon Rondon, having been impressed with the Venezuelan’s performances during their time together at Malaga.
But with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan also thought to be keen on the striker, only time will tell whether Pellegrini can convince Rondon of a reunion at the London Stadium.
Landlord’s Verdict: The 28-year-old would be a welcome addition to the Hammers next year should he arrive, as they will want to improve their striking options.
The forward suffered a little at the Baggies as he was often left up top by himself, yet with the quality around him at the London Stadium, he could fire a number of goals in for the Irons.
The locals would be pleased with an addition of Rondon’s quality – however, they will know they will need to compete with some of Europe’s best this summer if they want to bring the South American to the club.
