West Ham have a turbulent start to their campaign but fans remain confident that Manuel Pellegrini will inspire them to good things this season.
The Hammers spent over £100 million in the summer and at the moment, their form doesn’t suggest that it’s had much impact.
Nevertheless, West Ham have managed to pull some surprising results out the bag this season and with another strong addition in January, their back-line could be stronger, meaning they have a far better chance at winning.
The Daily Mirror along with other sources are reporting that West Ham could move for Gary Cahill in January with the Englishman out of contract in the summer.
What could this move mean for their current centre-backs?
Diop could improve alongside Cahill
Issa Diop has been one of West Ham’s standout signings this season but is still young, meaning an experienced head next to him in the form of Gary Cahill could be recommended.
With the pace and passing ability of Issa Diop accompanied by Cahill who has the brute strength and tenacity, the pair could form a terrific partnership that could improve West Ham defensively.
Balbuena would need to step up
One of their wildcard signings this summer was when they recruited Fabian Balbuena but at £4 million, he has proven to be a solid addition at the London Stadium.
After a few sloppy moments, fans are hoping he rediscovers his very top form and that could happen if Gary Cahill arrived, spurring him on to give his all every game.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
