It’s been a productive summer for the West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern, who were absolutely delighted to see the club splash the cash on Javier Hernandez.
Indeed, after a slow opening few weeks of the transfer window, the arrival of the aforementioned Mexican – amongst others – has absolutely delighted our resident Hammers.
The Argentine has been touted as a potential replacement for Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho at Anfield and the 25-year-old is understood to be aware he could greatly improve his terms with a big move away.
Currently believed to be raking in £30k-p/w in east London right now and, while the club are thought to want to offer £50kp/w, the report claims West Ham might have to pay up towards £85k-p/w to keep their man.
Losing Lanzini is not a popular notion in the Tavern, though he does still have three years on his deal at the London Stadium, so our drinkers hope the Reds can be warded off.
West Ham may not be able to keep their Argentine playmaker long-term, but they are in a pretty strong position right now. For the player, it’s probably best to develop as the main creative force at upwardly mobile Premier League side for a few more seasons before making a big move elsewhere.
