West Ham United fans here in the Tavern are hoping that the club can remove of any dead weight in the transfer window’s final days, as they look to cement their place in the Premier League for years to come.
David Moyes secured his first signing of the transfer window this week as Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario joined the club on loan, as the Scot looks to bolster a Hammers midfield that’s been the subject of criticism this season. However, there’s other important business for him to tackle as one of their outcasts is kicking up a fuss about a possible move away from the London Stadium. As according to reports in the Sun, striker Diafra Sakho has told the club he wants to quit as he demands a move to French side Rennes.
It’s fair to say that the Senegalese international is unhappy under manager David Moyes with his game time at the Hammers becoming very limited, as the 28-year-old looks to add to the club’s attacking woes in the midst of an injury crisis. And, after his summer move to France failed to be pushed through, he’s not been shy in showing his desire for a move to Rennes as he looks to find a way out of the club.
In what’s been tough times for the Hammers this season, interest from Premier League sides for striker Diafra Sakho was earlier dismissed by the club as they didn’t like the idea of bolstering potential relegation rivals.
A departure that won’t harm the future of the club, although with their current injury woes it may prove to be costly with limited time left to find a replacement for David Moyes. But a move that was inevitable with the lack of playing time received by the Senegalese striker, in a switch that the 28-year-old will be looking to secure as soon as possible.
