Redknapp assesses West Ham’s managerial situation

Speaking to talkSPORT, Harry Redknapp has revealed his backing for Slaven Bilic who is increasingly under pressure at West Ham this season.

Indeed, some our resident Hammers fans here by the bar in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to say it’s time for Bilic to wave goodbye to the club and that someone else needs to come in and get them going before they seriously get caught up in this year’s relegation battle.

After a fine 2015/16, the Irons were expected to kick on this season with European football and their new stadium but instead they have flopped dramatically and now lie in 17th, a solitary point above the drop zone.

It’s ensured that the Croatian has suffered plenty of speculation around his future for the duration of the campaign up until now but former Spurs and Hammers boss Redknapp does not feel he should be under such scrutiny at all.

“I can’t see Slaven being under any pressure. He had a great year last year. They have started the season with a few injuries and they played well at the weekend at Tottenham”, said ‘Arry.

”It was a real good performance – 2-1 up with four, five minutes to play – so it as not as if the team are not playing for him.”

Indeed, the east Londoners did play well against Spurs at the weekend right up until the closing minutes when they fell apart and let the Lilywhites win the game.

They’ll be hoping for a far more composed performance at Old Trafford against Manchester United this weekend, then, as the bottom three looms large.
