West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with what Manuel Pellegrini is trying to achieve at the London Stadium during the current transfer window, but they will be concerned that deals have not yet got over the edge.
The Hammers have been linked with a number of high-profile names over the course of the summer since the Chilean arrived, with the likes of Javier Pastore and Felipe Anderson to name a few being rumoured to join the East London outfit.
One man that does appear to be close to joining them though is Issa Diop, as The Daily Mail claim that West Ham and Toulouse have agreed to a fee for the 21-year-old defender. It is believed that the two sides have agreed to a deal worth around £21.9 million – however, there could yet be a problem to concluding it.
The Frenchman is reportedly yet to agree to personal terms about a switch to the capital, with a difference between the two parties in terms of wage demands, a problem the locals have already experienced this summer with Pastore.
Landlord’s Verdict: It remains to be seen if the Hammers can strike a deal with Diop, or whether they will have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
West Ham are looking to close the deal quickly and have already agreed on a fee with Toulouse, yet if they are unable to reach personal terms with the 21-year-old, then they may miss out on him with other clubs rumoured to be interested.
The locals in the Tavern will be expecting the club to sort it out and will be desperate to see the strong centre-back in an Irons shirt next season, as he would definitely help to improve their backline straight away.
