The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have reached the conclusion that their team might just be about safe but again they’ve been let down massively by the board not providing the type of quality player needed to propel the Hammers’ league position.
Thanks to a few positive results in recent weeks, West Ham look to have done just enough to survive relegation this season, although a few points between now and the end of the campaign would help the cause and relax the nervous fans around the bar.
Every position needs addressing this summer because apart from a few players and standout performers like Marko Arnautovic, Declan Rice and Angelo Ogbonna, not many have made a statement or a case to say why they should remain in the starting line up. A player who was the figure of great interest in January from the Premier League is Quincy Promes, a top winger valued at £19.80 million on Transfermarkt. Although Southampton couldn’t agree a deal to persuade Promes to St Mary’s’, our punters see no reason why the Irons shouldn’t test the water and try to bring him to Stratford.
Promes has again performed immensely well this season with Spartak Moscow, featuring in 35 games, scoring a sublime 20 goals and providing 9 assists for his team-mates. At 26-years-old, the Dutchman is entering the peak of his career and West Ham would be very ambitious to try and get a top winger like Promes in claret and blue.
The owners are well aware of the unrest with fans who demand top players, so delivering a player with the quality that Quincy Promes possesses would be a masterstroke on their part.
