Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to seeing who they sign in the summer window.
Indeed, after last season’s signings failed to really have a positive impact there is a real expectation around the bar that the Hammers are going to step up and deliver this summer.
That, of course, is easier said than done but we reckon a good place to start would surely be with signing Adama Traore from Middlesbrough when the window opens for business.
One thing that the Hammers really lack at the moment has to be having a player who can pick up the ball, beat a man, and then deliver a cross or take a shot at goal.
Dimitri Payet could do that, of course, but we know how that went and the only man now that comes close to those attributes is Manuel Lanzini.
The Hammers, then, are missing out on having a creative spark and an air of unpredictability – something that really has frustrated the supporters this year – but Traore is the kind of person who would be able to deliver that.
For Middlesbrough he took players on and got them up the pitch and, though they ended up going down, he didn’t do his reputation too much harm at all.
Indeed, he’d certainly inject some more positivity into the side than the struggling Robert Snodgrass and so it could be a punt that pays dividends.
